North Towers Privacy

North Towers has no developer-managed user account, advertising or cross-app tracking. This does not mean that the app makes no network requests or that no service stores information.

Information on your device

Downloaded site data, settings and favourites are stored locally. If location permission is granted, the app uses location and heading for map position, distance and direction. It also keeps a recent location and timestamp locally to restore the map. The app reads this cache only while it is less than 24 hours old; the current implementation does not automatically erase it at that point. Our database-download and notification payloads do not upload your current location, favourites or notes.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your saved sites, coordinates, notes, tags, ordering and synchronization information are stored in your private iCloud storage. Turning sync off stops synchronization but does not delete that cloud copy. Deletions are synchronized when the service is available. Exported backups are stored in the location or service you choose and must be managed separately.

Database downloads

When you download or update the database, our download service processes the network information needed to complete your request, such as your IP address. Downloads do not require an account and do not send us your favourites or purchase history. Service providers may keep request records for security and operation of the service.

Optional database notifications

When database update notifications are enabled, our service stores an installation identifier, notification token, language, app and database compatibility/version information, and notification delivery bookkeeping. This lets us send relevant update notifications and maintain subscriptions. It is a persistent installation record, not an anonymous statistic.

Turning update notifications off asks the service to delete the active subscription; the app retries when a connection is available. Invalid notification tokens are removed after delivery responses. Inactive subscriptions older than 180 days are cleaned up when the notification dispatcher runs. Uninstalling the app does not guarantee immediate server deletion. Provider backups and infrastructure records may follow separate retention policies.

Apple services and other destinations

Apple provides Maps, place search and Look Around. Using these features sends the information needed for the requested service to Apple; for example, place search uses the query and map region. Apple also processes purchases and optional iCloud synchronization. External map links, source links, exports and shares send the selected content to the destination you choose, under that destination's terms.

Purchases

Apple processes payments. North Towers does not receive your payment-card details. The app checks your purchases on your device to display the Supporter badge and restore your Supporter purchase. It does not send us your receipts or purchase history. Repeat contributions cannot be restored.

Support email

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. Feedback drafted by the app includes app and iOS version information. Correspondence is handled through our email provider. Contact us to request deletion of support correspondence; do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.

Your choices and contact

Location permission, database update notifications and iCloud sync are optional. You can change these settings, delete favourites, or remove local app data by uninstalling. Uninstalling does not delete external backups or your private iCloud copy. To ask about privacy or request assistance with stored information, contact mggyow@gmail.com.
